Dry Skin

Dry skin, also known as "xerosis", is a very common skin type. Dry skin is characterized by a parched appearance and a firm skin texture - especially in winter when skin is exposed to cold, dry air and indoor heating systems.

Dry skin most commonly appears on the arms face and legs - first appearing as small pink spots. If not treated, dry skin can turn into painful red patches of bumpy skin that will eventually become itchy and flake. Sometimes dry skin can be so itchy and irritated that it will disturb sleep. Keeping your skin moisturized and seeking professional treatments if problems persist will help your skin look its best.

To alleviate your skin's dryness, cleanse with moisturizing products and apply a rich oil-based cream or lotion frequently throughout the day - and especially before bedtime. One effective way to keep dry skin hydrated is by decreasing the frequency, temperature and length of your baths and showers. Also avoid the use of harsh soaps when bathing or cleansing your face and always apply a moisturizing lotion to your entire body after bathing and before bedtime. Eat lots of fruits and drink plenty of water to replenish dehydrated skin.

I am Only 16 and I Started Using Murad Products To Help Treat My Oily/ Acne Prone Skin. It Started Working Well And So My DERMATOLOGIST Pushed Me To The Next Level and So I Started Using A Constant Cleanser/ Toner and Moisturizer. However After My Moisturizer Ran Out I Accidently Started Using My Mother's Age Reform Skin Perfecting Lotion Cream SPF 30 and Used it for Quiet a While. I Knew It Was Not For My Skin But The Results Of It Keeping My Skin Neat and Tidy At Start Was Really Good. However Now After Finally Stop Using It I Have Noticed Dry/ Itchy/ and REALLY Tight Skin Around My Mouth, Which When I Smile Or Stretch My Mouth, You Would Be Able To Notice The Wrinkles. I Have Grown VISIBLE Wrinkles Around My Mouth, Chin, Top Cheeks And Eyes. I SERIOUSLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO!? Please Can Anyone Advice Me.. I Really Need Help Should I Visit My GP?

I use Aveeno Body Wash and it works pretty good. After washing I apply Johnson's Baby Oil to keep the skin moisturizing. But even though it does keep the skin moisturizing, I still have the spots which is the most embarrassing part of eczema.

My older daughter has Eczema (atopic Dermatitis along with allergies to dairy products and peanuts.. She is taken to her allergy doctor every 3 weeks to get her allergy shots which cleared her skin 100% you would never know she has eczema. I know have a 4 month old who is showing a little of eczema and just the other day i noticed 3 little red circular patches right above the breast area. I bathe her in Dove soap and lotion her with Aveeno Lotion.. I am hoping she doesn't have eczema as bad as my oldest daughter.

Try dove sensitive skin soap or aveno oatmeal baths. Also use Aquaphor skin. My 2 yr old has funny skin also. Whatever you do, do not use Baby Wash's etc.
