Psoriasis can affect only small areas of the body or it can cover large areas - depending on its severity. Psoriasis isn't contagious.

RosaceaRosacea - Rosacea affects the skin on your face. It often resembles acne however, when left untreated rosacea can pose other health problems. An individual suffering from rosacea is likely to suffer redness on the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead as well as watery and irritated eyes. Rosacea isn't contagious.

ScabiesScabies - Scabies is an infestation of the skin from a mite known as sarcoptes scabei. Although scabies are often associated with poor hygiene, this disorder can affect individuals with varying degrees of personal hygiene. My fiance has a sore on his face. It looks like a pimple, but he gets it right by his nose and it's bigger than a pimple. It doesn't itch, or hurt. It just comes back every few months in the SAME EXACT SPOT. What could it possibly be?

My African American friend has a skin condition which started with dark patches on her neck. The discoloration is now over most of her face. It is dry and sometimes itchy. It is so frustrating for her because her doctors (she has been to many) are puzzled by this condition, and cannot offer an explanation/solution to the discoloration. It has gotten so bad that she is now using makeup to try to cover the discoloration on her face. Has anyone experienced something like this? Please help.

For the person who is a nurse with blisters on her hands...My daughter had something similar...we found out she is allergic to metal. She can wear gold earrings but the cheap metal say like a grocery cart made her hands act like your symptoms...In her youth she worked at a grocery store and one of her duties was to round up carts.

I am a nurse practitioner and have developed a rash on the palms of both my hands. the rash develops in identical areas on both hands. Just before the rash develops, my hands burn like they are on fire, turn red, and then little blisters develope and rupture leaving behind a leather like appearance which slowly fades. I also suffer with acne at age 50, have hip pain, and occassionally bouts of diarrhea after I eat. I do not know if all these symptoms go together but they all get better when I take anti-inflammatory medications such as sulidac and doxycycline. Labs are all normal with no indication of arthritic or systemic diseases. Water and stress seem to exacerbate the symptoms. Thanks.

I have dark thickened skin on both of my knees. I've had it for many years. I've tried keeping my knees moisturized, I've tried salicylic acid from the dermatologist. The skin on my knees peels off easily after my shower, just like the calloused skin on my feet does after a shower, any ideas on how to get rid of it, or take the darkness out of the skin there? I'm always embarrased to wear shorts... Thanks

I have lichen planis on my ankle and leg. It first started 8 years ago and has moved around my leg. It heals in one area while it worsens in the new area. Dr.s say I can only use cortisone cream to keep down the itching. I stopped that 2 years ago because it wasn't doing anything any more and it isn't good for me. Is it stress related. They say they don't know what causes it or how to get rid of it. Any helpful ideas? Right now I use Urea Cream twice a day and it helps lots with the itching. Thanks, Ani

I am 31 years old and I have just been diagnosesd with schamberg;s disease. It stated on my feet around my anckles working it;s way to the boyyom of my feet and all the way up to my knees. My doctor thinks that it is a reaction to vicadine because of the asperine in the drug. My question is could this be because of the asperin and will it go away? Also if it does go away is this something that will always be in my system. I also noticed that it is more red after I have had alcohol. Will alcohol make the disease look worse or make it more red? Will alcohol slow down the healing process? Thank for reading my question. I do hope you can set my mind at ease. Thank You libear

Off and on almost every day the skin around my nails raise up and thicken and is very painful. Only when I pick the skin off does it stop but then it will heal almost within a day and start over again.

I periodically develop sores in the area where my panties rub against my inner, upper thigh. I presently have a large one -- in the past I have been able to use a small needle that has been disinfected with alchol or similar substance, however what I have presently is perhaps an inch in lenght and is raised and very painful.
