Eczema

Eczema, also called dermatitis, is an irritation mainly caused by allergies. Symptoms of eczema include inflammation of the skin, itchiness, the appearance of blisters, scaling and thickening of the skin. Eczema typically appears on face, elbows, knees and arms, but hands and feet also common areas where eczema can flare up.

Eczema is distinguished by its various types - including allergic contact dermatitis, atopic eczema, irritant contact dermatitis, infantile seborrhoeic eczema (also known as cradle cap), adult seborrhoeic dermatitis, varicose eczema and discoid eczema. Eczema can be treated with prescribed cortisone cream in combination with lotions or immunomodulators (medications that increases the body's immune response).

My 8-year old daughter suffers with eczema and after many attempts to find a good and natural remedy, I finally found...Dr. Merry Li @ Merryclinic.com. My daughter's eczema was so horrible and now has cleared up a lot. It does come back in small patches (nothing like before the products), but goes away pretty quickly. I have noticed that her flare-ups are soley due to her diet and stress levels so after limiting dairy and tomatoe based products, we FINALLY have her eczema under control! Good luck...Jo-ann, So Cal

This useful tip is for all the mothers out there with babies who suffer from eczema, and need to relieve the dry skin and itching. My Midwife and my Chiropractor told me about this oil made by the brand KERI. I find this works for my little guy who scratches his face and cheeks all night untill he bleeds and has scabs all over his face, and won't sleep bacause of it. I even use mitts like I saw another woman say she uses and they do manage to take them off to scratch. I also have started using Glaxal base CREAM from the drugstore (over the counter) along with the oil to moisturize his skin. So...Keri Oil in their bath (twice a day or week depending on how bad) The oil mixes in with the water ,which looks like milk rather than sitting on top of the water looking oily. After their bath while the skin is still wet put more of the KERI oil on their skin, let it soak in, and then follow up with the Glaxal base CREAM for extra moisture. That seems to be the only thing I found to relieve his dry skin and itching so that he can sleep. It may not be a miracle solution but it is helpfull for the my 4 month old's skin problem. I hope I could help at least one of you mother or eczema sufferers out there!!!

I am 16 and I take acting classes. I hope to one day be an actress, but I son't know if I can with this skin. I haven't auditioned for an agency yet, because I'm scared that they will reject because of my skin. It's not noticably on my face, but everywhere else. If I have to do a scene with short sleeves, I will feel embarrased.

I'm 13 and i've had eczema since i was a little girl.I am embarrased to show my arms and hands at school, because I am always wearing short sleeves.I dont like it when people notice the rashes because no one really understands.Everyone loves hanging out with me and Im considered popular, but it would be hard if someone just said"eeeew what's that o your arms and hands!"...which that happened to me just a few weeks ago.I need a cure for my eczema, because cheerleading tryouts for next year are coming up and i wan to try out,but I might not because of the old rashes and new on my legs and because of the rashes on my arms. Someone please post a comment for the cure because I want my skin to be flawless!

I have had eczema for 38 years. My dermatologist recommends eucerin cream. It is amazing!!! I also found when I have really bad breakouts that if I put a glob of vaseline on the spot and cover with a bandaid overnight for a few nights it usually goes away. I also soak in a warm baby oil (no fragrance) bath 2-3 times a week. I have found that harsh detergents like Tide make it worse. We use arm & hammer detergent because it is the only one that does not make the rashes worse.

I also have eczema but from what I've read it's fairly mild although itchy and drives me crazy. I hate it. I have tried a lot of vitamins and creams and some stuff seems to work but I too am looking for the solution for my skin. One thing that helped tremendously is dead sea salt. I get it from those little kiosks in the mall. It's a powerfull sea salt from an ocean I believe in Israel that has much more salt than other oceans. It seems to help me itch less and heal quicker.

A dermotoligst gave me a creme prescription to rub on two times a day. In one weak the redness lightened up and from then on I am using only mositurizers. Also, soap with no perfume including laundry soap which is odar free, like armer hammer and bar soap oil of olay.

I have a 3 month old son who has been suffering from excema for a month now. It started out as cradle cap, but now that we got that cleared up (starting out using baby oil, mineral oil, hydrocortizone cream 1 %, and finally Selsum Blue under the recommendation of our doctor), it has "migrated" to his forehead and cheeks. It is now more of an itchy rash. He scratches it all the time. At night, we put socks on his hands and swaddle him so he can't scratch his face up... but he usually is so persistent that he wiggles himself free and ends up scratching anyway!!! The problem is that by scratching, he rubs all the skin off his face and it oozes and finally scabs over. Then the pus on his gloved hands dries into a crusty sandpaper which he uses to rub off the newly formed scabbed skin. The poor thing can't help but scratch, it just itches all the time!!! Our doctor told us to start using Hydrocortizone cream 1 % and apply to the lesions. We've done this for the last week now and it is helping, but it will clear up in one spot, so we won't put the cream there the next day, and by the following day it's back again just as bad. So apparently you can't go one day without it reverting. Recently, the doctor perscribed an antibiotic cuppled with Benadryl. The Benadryl is so that he stops itching so bad and starts eating better (because the back of his head itches so bad that he can't nurse very well), and the antibiotic is to kill the infection under the skin. Apparently you can get a bacterial infection underneath your skin that you can't see but can feel, and it itches. We'll see. I'm hoping and praying that this will work. Good luck to everyone. It seems that each case is a trial and error. Maybe one day there will be a miracle elixir for all those suffering.

Though this may not be condusive to selling product, I think it's important to mention that for infants especially, cutting out wheat and/or milk may help (so I was told). I cut out milk for my four-month-old and by week four, the eczema spots on her back and the rough patches of red, inflamed skin all cleared. Just as a test, I drank milk again for a couple of days and the red spots and roughness reappeared. When I tried a rice cereal made with milk powder (at 6 months), my daughter's face went red and blotchy. When I dropped a spot of ice cream on her face, again, it went red and blotchy. Since then, I had a friend who told me she recently who had a naturopath who tested her sensitivities and advised of her allergy to milk--after she quit milk, her lifelong problem of eczema vanished...I've also uncovered a lot of material that divulges information on many babies having various adverse reactions to various milk products.

My son is 21 months old and has had eczema since he was born. I have used Eucerin Moisturizing Creme and it seems to help but i have to apply every hour or so! Hydrocortisone does not seem to help the itching! Giving him a lukewarm bath with Aveeno hypoallergenic wash, patting him dry (don't rub) and then applying his moisturizer immediately after his bath, putting him in 100% cotton loose clothing helps alot. Also I recently just put a cool mist humidifier in his room to keep his skin from drying out when he is sleeping, this has helped also! The skin is the largest organ and doctors know the least about it! Very irratating! There are no answers! Having allergies to certain things cause flare ups so get tested for allergies and this might help someone understand why they have it! Also it is genetic so if someone you're related to had eczema you or your child could get it too. My husbands brother had it very severly as a child that is why i think my son got it too! Oh and i give my son Omega-3 childrens gummy vitamins because they say Omega-3 helps your skin retain its natural moisture! I hope this info helps anyone out there that is dealing with this horrible skin disease! I feel for all you moms out there who feel hopeless! God bless!

I find that tanning drinking lots of water and having a good non alcohol diet helps me. I used to be covered on both arms sometimes spreading to my back my neck other area's, but a few years ago i started to tan and be very aware of what i was putting into my body and it all but dissapeared . I do now recently have a few spots on my writst and hand. Scary:( But i'm hoping keeping up with my diet wich has been on a recent decline from healthiness wil help get me back on track. 24 alaska

Reading all of your posts, my heart goes out to everyone suffering. I am, too. My eczema just seems to be getting worse as I get older (I'm 32 now.) I live in NYC, so I have access to the best doctors, but still haven't found the "magic bullet." Here's what's helped me so far. Cetaphil on the face, unscented glycerin soap in the shower. While still wet from the shower, I apply Vaseline all over my body. Then, I towel off. It has really helped the dryness. That's how I wash my hands, too I'm on a strict diet - no wheat, potatos, yeast - but I suspect many more food allergies. Challenge is the only way to figure it out: Don't have the suspect for 2 weeks, then eat it, and watch for a reaction. This is how I found out that I was reacting to cashews and tomatos which I had consumed daily. Acupuncture didn't do much, but the disgusting Chinese "tea" they gave me seemed to help. I still rely on steroid creams WAY more than I want to, but when I react, I get desperate. The only sunblock I can use is mineral makeup (i.e. Bare Escentuals) and raw shea butter. The worst part about eczema is the unpredictability: Just when you thought you know what helps/hurts, the game changes. Good luck to everyone.

My boyfriends doctor suggested he take a ten minute bath adding a cup of bleach, yes bleach (surgical soap is way too expensive, but first choice). He does this once a week and just soaks in it. His Eczema was so bad that he had puss coming out and open wounds, before he started doing this.

There is a really excellent cleanser I got at a department store. Clinique gentle cleanser...It worked shockingly well. It's expensive and I supplement it with Cetaphil, but I was really pleased with the results. I get patches of dry irritated skin on my face...Know that it's diet related.

I too suffer from eczema of the hands and feet. The itch can be unbearable at times. To soothe it, I use lavendar and chamomile lotion/soap. I bathe my feet in a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water in tepid water. It'll sting, but eventually it balances the PH so u heal faster. Nothing so far has taken it away, but I find this help even tho it stings. Gold Bond Medicated powder and cream work well also.

PLEASE HELP!!! My husband has been suffering with a severe case of eczema over 1/2 of his body with the worst syptoms on his feet. His feet become severely blistered and ooze a yellowish fluid. He has been on steroidal treatment combined with 2.5 percent hydrocortisone. During his steroid treatment the condition improves dramatically, however, within 5-7 days after finishing the medication, the condition returns. His feet are so bad that they become swollen and the skin will start to split. If there is anyone out there that has a suggestion, please, please help!! He has been affected with eczema for the past 7 years, but never this severe. We have invested much time and money in the so-called "dermacare skin creams" but they have no effect on his condition. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please post your comments.

I was diagnosed with Dyshidrotic eczema on my right hand 3 years ago. It started out small on my index finger and worked its way down and then up my middle finger. Now it has started on my thumb. The itching drives me CRAZY! I was given Fluocinolone Acetonide Cream by my doctor and hve been using it since. I was told not to use it everyday becuz it thins out the skin but once I stop using it I start getting blisters and itching. Is there really anything out there that truly helps. I am really embarrassed that I keep my hand in my pocket. I think I'll start learning to write with my left hand ;-) aarons_woman@msn.com

My husband was suffering from eczema for almost 5 years. We spent a lot of our hard earned cash on treating his problem but of no use. He used to scratch terribly and it was quite embarrassing for him as for us while in public. Last year a few days before Christmas a friend of mine recommend that I get my hubby to use Zenmed's DermCare System. I bought this system online and believe me what didn't happen in 5 years and after spending a whole lot of money, dermcare system has started to bring results just in a months time. My husband eczema is healing, he himself says that this was a wonderful product , which brought amazing results in a short span.

Last October, I suffered a sunburn on my face, which later peeled as I expected. But the peeling kept on until the present time. In addition, I have been suffering from a rash on my chest and back, redness on my forehead, temples, and cheeks. I have been treating it with hydrocortizone, Atarax, and skin moisturizers. I have the condition for three months now, It itches a lot, but I seem to be in good health in every other respect. Any suggestions?

FYI Aveeno is useless. Aveeno used to have a great reputation for being gentle on skin and soothing to the eczema family of skintypes. In the last two years or so though, it was bought out by Johnson&Johnson a very large company whose main interest is in making money, no in soothing skin. So, Like all other Johnson&Johnson products, Aveeno products now have petroleum based ingredients. Call it babyoil, castor oil, mineral oil, whatever, it's still petroluem. The probelm with this is that although it gives the skin a smooth, slick appearance and texture, it doesn't actually moisturise the skin. THis is because the molecules are too large to penetrate the semi-permeable cell membrane. Instead it sits on top of the skin blocking pores and interfering with the skins natural ability to exchange oxygen, moisture and waste with the environment. The Norweigan Formula line from Neutrogena is the only line I know of from Johnson&Johnson that contains no petroleum products. As well, Arbonne International has several excellent lines of skin care products, none of which use petroleum as a cheap filler.

I was diagnosed with allergy-induced eczema when I was three. However, I am not sure it is eczema. All that happens is if I get too close to perfume, I get a rash that seems to be under my skin. I mean, there are no bumps or anything, but it itches really bad. Is it even eczema?

People should only have to pay for the medecine that works not the stuff that doesn`t. We are not testtubes. The old saying try this one try this one because everyones skin is different is nonsense. different enough for 500 cortizone productsa? come on.

I`ve had eczema my whole life. Companies just make too much money to let go of from skin procucts especially for eczema(dermatitis). There`s is too much suffering and as long as there is suffering there`s money to be made. There`s no need for hundreds of steroid products for eczema. For that reason only proves that it`s just about companies and doctors trying to make money.

I suffered with eczema until I was treated by a homeopathic doctor in my 20s. It was very inexpensive and fast acting. Lately (20 years later), I'm getting symptoms again and will go back to the homeopath. The skin on my face was permanently damaged from using the very powerful prescription creams thru my childhood and teens -- the capillaries in the area along my cheek bones were broken and the skin thinned so the area gets bright red and swollen in the summer heat. Go to the homeopath -- you'll be glad you did!!

hi, I have a question. I am 25 years old & I am staying at a very cold place. I am having eczema but after consulting doctors I got confused. one doctor is telling me that it's atopic eczema & this is due to dryness. Another doctor says that this is Seborrheic eczema because of oiliness. In the past I had problem of acne but not too much. now I don't have a single acne on my face but having cracked skin under eyes & some red rashes on lower eye lash, under eyes & on the area near nose & lips. doctor has given me Kotoconazole cream to apply on affcted areas on face. Should I apply Cetaphil moisturiser? after taking bath I feel my skin dry but after applying Cetaphil moisturiser it becomes oily. I am totally confused. Please help me.

BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT STEROID USE. Please, this is very important because the side effects can be very detrimental, so before taking any medication always be sure to research ANY possible side effects and ASK QUESTIONS- be annoying- it is the doctor's job to help you so it is your right to know as much as possible about your condition and the possible treatments and possible effects of those treatments. I was diagnosed with eczema at age 19 on my hands; I have a history of allergies and have been on zyrtec daily since age 8. I was given topical steroids, was told to take singulair (which I still take- it is a pill taken orally), and when it still persisted I received a series of intralesional as well as intramuscular steroid injections. I continued topical steroids throughout this process. The injections without a doubt helped the eczema SO MUCH- I was so happy because I thought that finally something was helping me. Well, don't count all your chickens before they hatch. About a month after my last injection, striae ("stretch marks") appeared all over my legs and axillary arm areas. They appeared so quickly and so severe and depressingly prevalent. This was not a result of any change in weight, and I did not put any of the topical steroid cream on the areas where the stretch marks suddenly appeared over the course of 2-3 weeks. They were so apparent, glaringly obvious, and heartbreaking. After this I went back to the dermatologist I had been seeing and he claimed he had no idea what could have caused it. I took my health into my own hands and decided to really educate myself about my condition and treatments available. To this day I am 99% positive that the steroid injections caused this defacing and cosmetically debilitating condition. I finaly changed dermatologists and was then referred to a specialist where I am currently being treated for the striae with V-Beam laser treatment. This is a really good procedure and I have been really pleased with the results. Please note that this is a really expensive and usually just elective cosmetic procedure, BUT BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY of my condition due to the incompetency of that first dermatologist, my insurance is paying for it! So please, please educate yourselves about side effects, especially steroids- because this is your body (or your child's) and it is so incredibly important to know what you are subjecting it to. Now my eczema is still present but not as severe- I now treat it with Protopic, eucering, aquaphor healing ointment, use only hypo-allergenic and products for babies, and try to keep my stress level under control. wearing plain cotton gloves at night and putting on the aquaphor healing ointment under them also helps. I hope this post helps someone out there and that what happened to me will not happen to you! Good luck to everyone!

I believe I have eczema. Went to a quacky dermatolgists and we are trying Protopic. Doesn't do much. I feel vaseline would do the same. My dry, flaky sometimes inflamed dry skin patches are only on my neck, near my hair line on face but not on scalp and near my chin. I feel it is not eczema, because it is on my face areas & does not itch ever. I just pick at it because it is flaky and a pain to cover up with any foundation or powders. I've also tried Eliiadel, expensive creams, that seem to focus for the body not the face. Need help?

my eczema is on my elbows and has been for 10 years. It started when I lost my mother, brother and got a divorce all within 2 yrs. Mine obviously was brought on by stress and flares up when under stress. The worse for me is the pain when it flaires up. My elbows swell and hurt like crazy. I've started the extra virgin coconut oil and it is working! I have tried creams and cortisone shots from my dr. and neither worked. I cant wait to tell him about the coconut oil!

My flair-ups have worsened as I've gotten older. In my teens I'd get a patch or two use cream and they'd leave. When I married and had my first child, they stayed thru my pregnancy. Now in my late 30s, it is horrible and as spead to my back, shoulders, arms and legs. I've tried steriods, topic steriods and herbal creams, tomato juice and vegan diets. Nothing works.

My daughter (15) has had eczema all her life. We've tried everythingto keep her skin soft. For moisturizing, we use a cream in a jar called Cetaphil. It's not greasy, goes on smooth, and it's hypoallergenic (did I spell that right?!?) Also, we just found the Wal-Mart brand of the Cetaphil, which is only $5.00!!!

I wish i could help every one who made comments but according to my reasearch and i am a16 year old girl what can help is the diet. It also helps to stay away from juices with fructose and corn surupl also tokeep the skin moisturised try natural shea butter or ocoa butter. Also i notice a very small but none the less improvement when i took this oil lled flax seed oil. it contains omega 3 which all ppl who have exzema lack. I have hadexzema since i was four and i suffer so much its unbaerable. If u suffer from this conditionhave a support group handy to help u with the itching also STAY AWAY FROM MEDICATION IT DOESNT HELP AT ALL. Steroids and cortisone cremes all just supress the simtoms they dont go to the core of the problem. They also kill vital cell in the body. all i can say that is making a change in my exzema is makin my diet to in clude more organic foods. I do have more info but not much time so if u need any info just email me at thereseetull@gmail.com

i was just reading about a casein allergy and eczema link. my son has had eczema since he was 3 months old. there really is no cure. only maintenance and care. avoid neosporin polysporin meds. wear clothing made of 100% cotton washed in dye and perfume free soaps. same for bedding and anything that touches the skin. (hats, socks, gloves etc.) any advice would be great as far as what else to do.

My son is 4 and has eczema since 3 months old. He also had asthma (I have asthma) and food allergies. He is allergic to wheat, eggs, nuts, and milk. Eating any of these foods causes his eczema to flare and happens a day later. There is a direct correlation to food and eczema. He also has external allergies like grass, dust, pollen...etc. Also breaks out when we walk in the grass for a few minutes. Please get tested for allergies because they may be triggering flare up and you don't know it and stay away from polyester clothing, it is very irritating. Cetaphil cleanser is the only soap that works for him and Aquaphore and Vaseline are good but heavy. If I bathe him at night and lather on Aquaphore and give him benadryl with long pants and long loose top 100% cotton thin and light in a cool temperature his skin is smoother in the morning. Hope this helps someone.

I HAVE A BAD (WHAT I CALL A "RASH") BUT I AM NOT SURE WHAT IT IS . MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED A OINTMENT THAT WORKS FOR A WHILE BUT THE "RASH" COMES BACK WITH "VENGEANGE"? NOW I AM TRYING MY SISTER IN LAW REMEDY(CASTOR OIL SOAK OVER NIGHT IN A GLOVE THAT I WEAR WHILE SLEEPING) WHAT DO YOU THINK? IT'S ONLY MY SECOND DAY AND IT SEEMS TO LIGHTEN UP THE REDNESS OF THE SKIN?

I have had a rash on my face near by mouth for 7 weeks now, i have seen two doctors and one said he does not know what it is, the other said ring worms and gave me a cream that did not take rash away. I have been doing reseach on the internet and the inchy red sometimes pimple patch sounds more like eczema to me, I am 60 yrs old, no pets or childred around me. I am going to purchase some Aveeno eczema care product today and try it. My question is How long does a Eczema rash last if untreated by a doctor?

I am 25, i have had eczema since I was 5. I have been through prescription after prescription. I have learned a few things. One being keep your hands and feet and whatever else tends to break out easily out of the water! water is bad,lol I get the little bubbles or blisters on my hands and feet and I use a pin to pop these blisters(they dont hurt) and wipe the liquid away from my skin. THen when the blisters are all burst, i use Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion on the affected area. If possible I put a bandage on the affected area if it seems to be really dry. The bandage keeps the moisture from the lotion in but keeps the water out when i wash my hands during the day. I make sure my showers are brief and DRY OFF EFFECIENTLY!. I am not a doctor but it seems to me that with eczema my skin is sooo dry that when it does get in the water it stores that water up in the little blisters and then gets super itchy!!!!! THe Vaseline Lotion really helps with the itch and is great moisterizer!! I have had this for twenty years and it hasnt gone away yet so im guessing its not going to. So i do the best i can to prevent the worst!!

FYI to ALL When I was 5 years old I broke out with dermatitis/eczema on my elbows/wrists. I was treated by a dermatologist. Years later I would break out due to allergies. Now I am finding out that I am actually allergic/intolerance to wheat, and there is a strong correlation to the skin problems that many suffer with. I also had symptoms of asthma. This is something that all eczema sufferers should consider - your diet. My son has also inherited the same skin problems, and I consider similar food allergies based on hereditary traits. I suggest looking up wheat allergies on the internet for vital information.

I am an individual who has been suffering with eczema since I was a child, I found that for my face, I would use now after going to the doctor using all their creams Elidel works well, its mild and non greasy, I also use another cream that is called nerisone oily cream it appears greasy at first but once in the skin it actually maintains skins softness. I make sure that I wash my face with warm tepid water and pat it dry and then put the medication on my face. Of course all eczema medications are expensive as both of those I spent about 45 dollars on a small little tube. The main thing I found that helps with my eczema that has not cost alot is any cream with no fragrances, or no lanolin and primarily what I use when I can't afford to buy the above is cream that is made with proplis. It is an extract from the honeybee and it has many good healing and antiseptic properties. It comes in a cream form and it looks like cream brown sugar colored. I use it under my make up as mositurizer. When I first used it it stung cause my face was in flare up, but after awhile I haven't had it. I used to sell it at a store I worked at now I just buy it myself. It is like literally super cheap I pay 16 dollars canadian and it lasts forever, you just use it sparingly. You can find it on the net with other things in it, but if you can find a health store that makes the cream you are lucky... no preservatives! Anyone that wants to purchase this stuff just tell me I would love to help anyone like me out!

I have suffered from exzema since I was 2. It seems lately that the flare-ups have been caused by stress. I also have allergies and asthma is also associated with the three. All the creams and steroid lotions my doctors have precribed only seem to intensify the itching. I am 29 and have found that when I start to break out I will take a Benadryl to stop the itching. Then I will apply the medicine. My beatician put seabreeze on me one day I was itching soo bad. It worked, but dried my skin out. I was given Hylira for moisture. I will them put Cetaphil over top of that. Protopic is the steroid cream I use. The thing about it is it will cause me to also break out in acne. I just wish one day it could be cured. My 7 year old daughter has eczema and we have learned that most sunblocks are very irritating. We live at the beach and she spends most days swimming in the ocean. we have learned that Water Babies is probably the most allergy inducing of them all! Stay away from Water Babies. We are having some luck with almost any other brand of the "stick" blocks. Very non-irritating, easy to apply, and provides a thick emolient. We cake it on every hour, so far it's our best answer yet! jrn in socal

I have had issues with eczema and psoriasis for years. I have used treatments prescribed by doctors as well as any over-the-counter product that claimed it would treat the condition successfully. The results were always disappointing. Recently, I tried a skin ointment called Yu-Be. It can be used on children and adults alike and the product can be applied on the face as well as the body. It moisturizes, yet it soothes sunburn, burns and even eczema and psoriasis. Though it did not cure me, the results were amazing! I was shocked. It helped me more than any doctor prescribed treatment I was ever given. Check out their web site. The product can be ordered on it if you wish to purchase it. Good luck to everyone who suffers from this condition!

It is easy to say not to scratch the exzema inflammed areas, but this itch is the worst and most intense of any itch I have ever endured. The only way for me to stop the itch is to rub it until a blister forms and bursts. Of course, then it makes a nasty scabbed area. Even anticortisone creams do not stop the itch.

My son who is 26 yeas old has had eczema on his face all his life. Is there a cosmetic procedure that can help. Like chemicle peels, or facial resurfaceing? Nothing seems to help and his face gets crusty and red.

My daughter also has this problem with sunscreen, the two that we have found to work best is Vanicream (can be ordered on most derm. web sites) and Aveeno now makes a sunscreen.
