Skin Disorders

Skin disorders are severe skin problems. They not only cause physically grief - like redness, itchiness, thickness of the skin, burning sensations and oozing fluids - but they can also cause psychological stress if they interfere with your regular relationships, social activities and your appearance.

The appearance of an unfamiliar skin disorder frightens many - especially if it affects or distorts their appearance. Researching and becoming familiar with the symptoms and causes of your skin disorder is the most effective way to treat it properly and control the outbreaks. The causes of many skin disorders are still unknown; however, many are often thought either to be influenced by the body's immune system or caused by something genetic.

Regarding the wire-like skin disorder. I remember hearing of growths like that but they were more like, abnormal, thick hair growth. Other than that the "Tree Skin Disorder" (http://www.last.fm/user/-Eppler-/journal/2007/03/14/9tglq_weird_skin_disease) which is very rare, but apparently begins with hedgehog-like spikes atop the skin. I also found this (http://mysterytopia.com/2008/08/indonesian-woman-manusia-kawat-claims.html) deemed not credible. There isn't enough information. One poster explained that they should have a procedure to remove them as far as they extend, in order to know their origin. Also, why didn't they test the substance... a metallic deposition like that is just odd... I wish there was more info... it would be plausible if they were growths made from a similar protein composition as hair and nails.

I have had itching in the palm of my left hand for 2 or more years, jokingly thinking that it means "money", like winning the lottery. It was about 6 months ago that a small black line appeared in this same area thats been itching, it looked like a splinter underneath my skin. I used a needle to work the splinter out from beneath my skin. When I got the splinter worked out of my palm, the texture of this splinter felt like wire, and it sprung to another wirey splinter. I was able to remove a small piece of the splinter I was working on, but it continued into another one. I went to remove this one and it does the same thing. I continued to remove these from my hand, and now I have worked all the way across the palm of my hand, and I'm still following this black line underneath my skin that continues with more splinters. The palm of my hand has now been opened up with a needle all the way across my palm, and has turned red. I have never seen anything like this. I poured Peroxide on it to clean it, OH DID THIS STING. A few days later a friend looked at my hand, now there are these same splinters on the top of my fingers. He worked these like I had done on the others, and they continued and continued all around and across my fingers. They too had a wirey texture to them. Both times were stopped prior to removing all the splinters, it's like a never ending ordeal. I've experienced different locations also, on my right leg, on my right foot, the big toe I have continued to go crazy with the itching on my left palm, the orginal location from the beginning, and the splinters continue to be there. I'm trying to not use a needle to remove them because of the soreness I deal with afterwards. Now I'm using a fingernail file to file the splinters down even with my skin. Is there anyone that could give me any advise on what this could be, or how to get rid of them? The old wise tale about, if your hand itches you, it means money, "DON'T BELIEVE IT", well not in my case anyhow. Please Help with any advise to cure me.

I have been diagnosed with porenkeratosis. Does anyone know of any treatment for this disorder? The dermatologist said she could freeze them but would leave a white spot on my skin and would not prevent them from coming back.

Unidentified skin rash on my great-grand daughter. She is currently 15 months old and has had this condition since birth. The (raised) rash is similiar to chill bumps. They are colorless and cover her back, chest and stomach. They are very itchy as she scrathes every time she can access the skin. I have done many searches and cannot fine any results. I would appreciate if anyone could identify this rash. We are treating the rash with vaseline, aveno and other skin condition ointments. Thank You.

I wish they touched on the subject of skin care for malar rashes. These nasty lupus "butterfly rashes" really bite! I'm trying Cetaphil wash and moisturizer now to see if it helps any: nothing else has helped so far.

To the one with spots and itching. I have been dealing with same for four years now with no help from doctors. All they offer me is antihistines to keep me from scratching but don't seem to help much. SO I am now doing a parasite cleanse as this may be what is causing my skin issues. I am in my third week but still no change. I was told by a naturopathic doctor it may take 30 days before I see any results. Google parasites and you will be amazed at what you find.

I had a small, black spot with a hard knot and swellings under it on my right breast. My daughter says that it was probably a spider bite. But now I have small irregular spots on my right arm. The skin appears to be dead and can be scratched off. What in the world could this be? Allyoop

To blood spots under skin on torso: I experienced a similar condition years ago where I had pea size circles that looked like blood under the skin. They looked like I had polka dots on my sholder and chest. I found the anwser and treatment on my own and shared with my doctor who perscribed the topical cream to correct this condition. It's called Tinia versa color {I'm certain I've spelled this wrong} It's a skin fungus found west of the Mississippi. It is directly from the sun. Weird huh? Good luck hope this helps.

To the person with spots and itching; I have been going through the same thing for seven months. Am now having a thorough physical work-up plus seeing an allergy specialist. They are screening me for systemic disease, sorry to say, something as serious as lymphoma. All medications and any over the counter drugs must be eliminated one by one with about two weeks between elimination of the next. Be sure to consult a physician about this elimination period. That has solved nothing for me but I feel I am in better hands with an Internal Medicine physician + the allergist. I hope you find the cause...it can be so many systemic problems: liver, kidney, iron deficiency anemia, lack of B12 and many more. Good health.

I have had a skin problem for about a year. I have been through 3 dermatologist who say it is eczema. I have been treated with double doses of Clarinex and Zyrtec., Steroid creams and cortisone shots, but still suffer from an itch that causes me to break a pore and turn it into a mosquito looking spot. I have spots all over my arms and legs, and now my upper and lower back and some on my stomach. I continue to ich those spots, so they cannot heal. The 3rd dermatologist does not believe it is ezcema but cannot find the underlying cause. I was sent to the dermatologist at NYU medical center, but they had no answers either. I was started on light treatment today. Biopsies and blood tests have not shown anything positive. Sound familiar anyone? Need help from the itchies!!
