Skin Care Tips for the 30-Something Woman

Prevent premature aging

Once we hit thirty, we tend to get a little paranoid. We find ourselves looking in the mirror a little more, trying to spot the first wrinkle under our eyes or line around our mouths. Oh no, we think, it's downhill from here!

Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way. We don't have to give up our youthful, glowing skin just because we're in our thirties! With proper care and maintenance we can achieve beautiful wrinkle-free skin throughout our thirties, and beyond - and that's without cosmetic surgery!

Here are some tips for keeping your skin beautiful throughout your thirties:

  • Apply a rich moisturizer each morning, along with sun block. Be sure to cleanse your skin beforehand and use a toner - preferably one that will not dry out your skin.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure. Wear sunglasses and avoid tanning beds, which will age your skin. Use a sunless tanner if you insist on being golden brown, and apply sun block of at least SPF 30 when outdoors, rain or shine.

  • Exfoliate your face and body weekly. Apply a moisturizer afterward.
  • Use a good quality body lotion.
  • Use night cream that contains antioxidants.
  • Wear makeup that suits your skin type. Many foundations are available with moisturizers built in and others come oil-free.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. It's the easiest and cheapest way to keep your skin fresh and healthy.

Facial masks and mud are another easy way to rejuvenate your skin and keep it youthful. While you can purchase exfoliators and masks, you can also make them at home. Mashed avocado is full of nutrients and makes a wonderful facial mask. Putting tea bags or cucumber slices over your eyes will help to reduce puffiness, which can be quite common during your thirties. If you have dull, dry skin, try incorporating essential oils into your facial, like peppermint, rosemary and thyme.

Getting regular exercise is important for keeping your body healthy and improving your skin's elasticity, as is eating a balanced diet filled with vitamin-rich foods.
