A Guide to Moisturizing
Moisturizers are designed to make our skin softer and more pliable by increasing its hydration. Commercial skin moisturizers come in lotion and cream form. They incorporate ingredients such as artificial and natural oils, emollients, humectants and lubricants to emulate the skin's natural oils.
Most skin types will benefit from the daily use of a mild, water-based moisturizing lotion or cream. Even those with oily and acne-prone skin can benefit from using a little moisturizer after cleansing and toning their skin. Just don't massage the skin too hard, as it will stimulate the oil glands. Those with dry skin need a rich moisturizing lotion that is oil-based for increased hydration.
