Its founder, Mary Kathlyn Wagner, originally had plans to become a doctor - until the day she realized she had a talent for sales. Wagner achieved tremendous success during her 25 year career working as a corporate sales associate at World Gift. However, in 1963, she retired due to what she deemed unfair treatment - compared to that of her male colleagues. In that same year, Mary Kathlyn Wagner embarked on her dream, to start her own skin care company selling skin creams.
In 1971, Mary Kay opened its first international branch in Australia. Today, the small company that started in the Dallas suburb of Addison, Texas, has branched out to over 30 countries all over the world.
Mary Kay's product line is most famous for its color cosmetics, facial skin care, nail care, body care, sun protection and fragrance for both men and women. Its wide range of skin care products include anti-aging, cleansers, moisturizers, specific needs and lip and eye care. Mary Kay does not test on animals. Its TimeWise 3-In-1 Cleanser (a 4.5-ounce bottle) is approximately $18 online.
