Estee LauderIn 1946, Estée Lauder and her husband, Joseph Lauder, founded a skin care company that bore her name in New York City. Mrs. Lauder pioneered two marketing strategies that are still very popular today - she gave-away freebies and gifts-with-purchase, in order to attract female consumers. Thanks to her sales initiative, by 1970, Estée Lauder had expanded overseas and was being sold in seven European counties.

Today, Estée Lauder has a full line of skin care, makeup, fragrance and even hair care products. Their popular products are used by consumers in more than 120 countries. Followed by skin care giant L'Oreal, Estée Lauder is ranked the second biggest marketer of prestige beauty and cosmetics products in the world. And Estée Lauder is still number one in the U.S., and it established itself as the largest privately held cosmetics company worldwide by 2004.

Over its 50 year history, Estée Lauder Companies Inc. has acquired many famous brands - such as Aveda, American Beauty, Bobbi Brown, M.A.C., La Mer and Tommy Hilfiger fragrances. Their products are not tested on animals. One tube of Estée Lauder Soft Clean Moisture Rich Foaming Cleanser for dry skin (a 125-milliliter/4.2-ounce bottle) costs about $25 online.
