At Home Facials
Creating an at home facial, and knowing the most effective ingredients to use on your skin, can be very confusing. However, home facials can be a rewarding way to treat your skin - and they take little time and money. The pages in this section include some simple facial recipes that you can perform on your own at home for a variety of skin types.
There are three basic elements included in all facials:
- Cleansing
- Toning
- Moisturizing

- Steam Treatment (optional) - Before using any product on your face, applying gentle steam will open the pores and prepare your face for cleansing.
How - Place a soft towel in a bowl of warm water (or herbal tea) and let it soak for 2 to 3 minutes. Wring out the towel out and place it over your face and neck for 4 to 5 minutes. - Cleansing (required) - Cleansing your face will unclog the pores and leave the skin feeling revitalized and fresh. Cleansing will also remove any excess oil (sebum) that has been left on your face.
How - Purchase (or make) a homemade facial cleanser and smooth it over the face in circular, upwards motions. Rinse with warm water and gently pat dry with a soft towel. - Toning (required) - Toning helps balance the pH of the skin. It gives skin a firm, healthy, clean glow.
How - Apply toner to the face using a soft cotton ball or pad. Dab the face, but do not rub the face as pulling can damage the skin and cause wrinkles. - Moisturizing (required) - Moisturizing softens and adds hydration and nutrients to the skin. Moisturizing is very important and disregarding this step can ruin the results of your facial.
How - Apply moisturizer to your skin while it's still damp from the toner. Gently apply the moisturizer to your face in dabbing motions. Again, never rub lotions, creams or oils into the face as rubbing can cause wrinkles. Let moisturizer sink into your skin, don't rinse off.

I'm sort of laughing at the chick who goes to the spa... If I had $200.00 to spend at a spa two times a month, I sure wouldn't be here looking for how to make my own facila masks! LOL Sorry, lady, some of us can barely afford to eat, let alone spend that kind of cash on our skin!

ladies, there are a few recipes to be had to the left and up... for the herbal steam treatment, i recommend a mixture of chamomile and mint teas, prepared as if you were going to drink them, cooled to warm temperature. you'll need enough to soak the towel in, so probably 3- 4 cups worth. for the cleansing/ exfoliating, i recommend a half cup oatmeal mixed with either a small cup of natural yoghurt or about a cup of diced papaya. blend this well in a blender and apply for 15 minutes. the yoghurt or papaya serve to loosen dead skin and the oatmeal absorbs oils, then gives the mild abrasive needed to remove dead skin and clean the pores. follow that with a toner of 1 part apple cider vinegar to 8 parts warm water and finish with a moisturizer of olive oil slightly warmed. you can mix fragrant herbs like sage or lavender with the oil. dab it on lightly and let the skin soak it up for 5 or 10 minutes, then dab off the excess. i hope this helps... i have been giving my wife this type of facial three times a week for the 5 years we've been married, and at 32, she has the most beautiful skin i have ever touched and she still gets carded

when i go to the spa to get a treat (mani/pedi facial) a facial i get a deep regenerating mud mask that uses the heating qualites of valcanoes it heats your face and dries up pimples and removes impurites like black heads then a nice invigerating scrub that goes into larger pores and bursts to clean then out and make them smaller then i get a steam bath for my face for about ten min to calm my face then my own seaweed aloe and ginsing toner and cream but before all this and i think its the best part i get a heated ginsing massage on my face fallowed by a seeween wrap this is a great facial to get at the spa it only costs about $200 and you have to go about 2 times a month and still continue washing toning and mosturising at home try going to the spa its relly a nice treat and it feels great.
