Chemical Peels
Chemical peels - as the name implies - are harsh chemical treatments meant to smooth and improve the texture of the face by removing its damaged outer layers.
Chemical peels have been known to rid wrinkles, blemishes and uneven skin tones from aged faces. During the procedure, phenol, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and alphahydroxy acid (AHAs) are commonly used.
Phenol is the strongest chemical solution used in a chemical peel. It produces deep peeling results for patients with coarse facial wrinkles, blotchy areas or sun damaged skin. Phenol is only used on the face, as it can leave scars when applied to the neck or other areas of the body.
