Blackheads Acne

Blackheads, also called open comedones, are darkened flat spots that form when pores are clogged with a mixture of sebum and dead skin cells. The reason why they are called blackheads is because of their dark appearance; which is caused by tightly packed dark colored skin cells.

In general, blackheads are caused by dirt and unclean skin conditions. They are most widespread in the T-zone (the area that consists of your forehead, nose, mouth and chin), where the sebaceous glands are extremely active. If you don't treat your blackheads properly, they can turn into dark brown acne lesions and cause serious skin inflammation.

I have blackheads and open pores where the blackheads were, that will not shrink back to normal size. I have been using MD formulations Daily Peel Pads that contain glycolic acid. Some of the pores still bave blackheads while others seem to be going away but like I said are still enlarged. What can i do to shrink them back to normal size?

The skin peeled l off my nose after the blackhead had been on my nose for several years. It is in the location where I wear my glasses. It does not show with the glasses on. How do I get the skin to grow back on my nose?

To help get rid of them. put your head over a bowl of very hot water. Put a towel on your head & around the bowl so the steam doesn't escape. The steam opens your pore to help rid of the nasty things

That's really not true. Open comedones are the same things as closed comedones. They both are just sebaceous glands clogged with dead cells, dirt, bacteria, and sebum. The only difference is that open comedones reach the surface and become dark when the contact the air because they oxidize.

Blackheads are not black due to "tightly packed dark colored skin cells." This desctription more accurately describes a freckle or sun spot. Blackheads appear black due to oil oxidizing on the skin.
